Steffi's Story

Steffi Gutierrez, MA, CD, LCCE is a Certified Birth Doula and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. Her journey as a birth professional began in Benin, Africa. After receiving her Masters in Global Maternal & Child Health from Seton Hall University's School of Diplomacy and International Relations, she joined Peace Corps and traveled to Benin (West Africa). There she worked closely with the Head Midwife of the local Maternity Clinic in her posted village. She naturally fell into the role of a doula, and attended over 100 births (in the bush, home and clinic). She was then transferred to Botswana (Southern Africa) where she worked closely with Orphans affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis and continued working with mothers, prenatal & postpartum, infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

After returning back to the States and experiencing a traumatic birth with her first daughter herself, she decided to become officially certified as a Birth Doula to help women achieve the birth that they desire and deserve. She has attended almost 120 births in the US. In 2018, Steffi dedicated herself to becoming a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), so that she can pass the important knowledge of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and parenting on to humans. Steffi is an advocate for women, mothers, all birthing individuals and children and has a passion in relaying this message to her community and beyond.
